Conclusion
On May 20, 1506 Christopher Columbus died believing he discovered a shorter route to Asia. Columbus accomplished many important events in history, but he also made some bad decisions which made people very upset. His great accomplishments include the finding of the New World and discovering different routes across the Atlantic Ocean. Some of the disappointments in his life consist of how he treated the indigenous people and how he brought the diseases with him when he came over. As a result of Columbus’s actions, there are some countries around the world and states who have completely changed the name of Columbus Day to acknowledge the indigenous people instead. There are some people who just do not believe in celebrating Columbus Day at all because of Columbus’s negative actions towards the indigenous people. The decisions that he made have now affected many people later on in their life. Columbus’s appalling actions have now created the question that people still ask today, should Christopher Columbus Day be celebrated or not?
